Default Loose column... in-car fix possible?

I have read that to cure a loose(up/down and side/side movement)tilt-tele steering column it has to come out of the car.
Is it possible to dissassemble components and gain access to tighten the loose inner mount bolts without removing the column in my 73?
TIA

Yes, it can be done -- but I have found that it is far easier to repair it on a bench than to do it in a car.

I have done mine in the car and it's do-able pretty easy, when you tighten the bolts use a drop of locktight and it won't happen again,Ron

Thanks to all for the feedback.
I'll have an attempt at doing it incar first, and if it proves too hard I 'll remove it.
Are there any nasties I should be aware of...?

That and don't use the steering wheel as a handle to get in and out of the car...

Do a youtube search for S10 Steering Column. The Vette column is just like it. It is a three part video. I had done the job before, but it was 20 plus years ago. These three videos show clearly how to do it.

It is easy to do in car if you take your time.

I did have to replace the "horn contact carrier retainer". Be careful with removing it. It was only $7 but it cost 22 with shipping.

Here are the addresses of three T&T Disassembly & Repair papers and pics that directly address tightening those pesky screws that secure the bearing support to the steering column jacket. You can skip most of Paper #2 that addresses removing the column from the car.

Just a note of feed back re. tightening of those pesky retainers.
I have just about completed the job without removing the column and it was not a biggy...just took my time, referred to my manual when needed and was careful.
I have diassembled then reassembled over 50 C4 columns and the similarities between those and the 73 tilt/tele system was surprising.
All of my 'specialty' tools for C4's worked on the 73.
I damaged two items during the job...both of which were brittle plastic parts...the buzzer contact housing and the horn insulator.
The first I can/will do without, the second I can glue back together.
Thanks for the feedback to my original post, esp. to those who said it could be done in-car. Also to Jim for his tips.
BTW Jim..if you get to read this, a word of thanx for tips on st. box adjustment. My original box was too worn to respond to anything but a rebuild, but I had another one leftover from a RHD conversion that loved treatment that you outline in your papers
The C4 forum has been good to me over the years, and I am finding this one equally as helpful with a slightly touch more comraderie
Cheers, from So Australia
