Rattling shifter (different problem)
OK...so I've read the prior posts. I also have my shifter assembly (Hurst 4 spd) out of the car and am able to identify where the rattle is coming from.
If I turn the shifter ASM over and look in from the bottom, there is a notch in the bottom of the shifter lever which sits on a bar which is part of the ASM. The rattle is coming from the play between the shifter lever and the bar's notch. It starts at about 45 and by 75 it's annoyingly loud.
I do not see any way to disassemble the ASM nor do I see any indication of any bushing or pad that may have been installed at one time. Any ideas? The only thing I can come up with is to see if it's possible to slide a piece of rubber between the two but am hesitant as i don't know what issues that could cause if it slips out.
