Default Electric Window Fix...

Having just picked up my '69 from the repair shop for a new gas tank sending unit, I was disgusted when I went to lower, then raise my drivers side window. It lowered just fine, but it wouldn't go up. I thought....man, here we go again.....they fix one thing....then they break another. But, then I remembered that this window "spazzed out" one other time and then it started working again. I wasn't so lucky this time. Being "electrically challenged", my brain shuts down when it comes to wiring, positive, negative, ground and terms such as these. However, I wanted to at least check out the problem before bringing the car back to the repair shop....again. I removed the door panel, and then the access panel on the bottom portion of the inner door panel so I could check the wires that lead to the motor. I pulled the quick disconnect fitting off the motor and low and behold....the contacts were corroded, whitish green and dingy looking. I took some fine sandpaper and gave them a swipe or two and replaced the fitting. Miracle of all miracles....the window now went up and down.....and it even moved faster than before. I'm feeling kind of proud of myself right now but having been a 'Vette owner for many years....I know this elation won't last too long. However, I'm going to enjoy "the feeling of doing it yourself" for as long as I can.

Don't you love those simple fixes. You go in thinking "ah man new motor or switch" and just a bad connection. A quick clean and your back on the road.
