With the high compression engine in my L-46, I always have to mix something in the gas so I don't ping. I don't like to retard the timing at all, and loose some of the performance. Most of the time I mix in a couple of gallons of 110 octane racing gas and it runs pretty well.

But every once in a while I run over to the next county, they have a gas station that pumps 104 octane. Remember that? They sell it as racing gas too. Besides the fact that it's just plain nice to pull up to a pump and not have to mix this and that..........Man what a difference, it runs absolutely great. Much more responsive and alive!!

What a shame it's so d*** expensive. (4.00 gal )

I love my 8.5 /1 87 octane user......for now. I am going to go back to the 10/1 stroker. I miss the power but not the fill ups. :)

BTW Which engine do you have and what compression. I am guessing the 11/1 370 horse LT-1

 

I know, but the ride back are the benefits. Some beautiful cruising rodes in here northern CA . The L46 is the 11.0-350 hp version.

The mix ratios are in my previous message. They are directly from the Kemco Oil web page. They are good folks - drop them an e-mail and they can help you figure out what to do.

The other octane boosters are just snake oil.

This stuff is real tetra-ethyl lead - it works. BUT - it will ruin 02 sensors and catalytic convertors.

When you receive your delivery of Lead Supreme 130, read the safety instructions - follow the safety instructions! No shortcuts - just follow the safety instructions!

Lead Supreme 130 is very poisonous - wear good quality rubber gloves when handling this stuff. Also be sure to wash your hands VERY WELL after handling this stuff. Only work with Lead Supreme 130 OUTDOORS. It can cause poisoning from breathing the fumes!
