I have a 69 vette, 350 engine, 4 speed trans. I can get a 5 speed T5 trans out of an 87 mustang that is in very good condition for a very good price. Has anyone done this or does anyone have any suggestions.
I think a couple here have made the swap, I'm sure they will chime in. Just becarefull with the transmission as it has a very low power rating. GM didn't offer th T5 as an option for the 225hp 350ci Camaro in the 1980's as they felt it was too weak and the 350 would tear it apart. Only the 305 was available with this tranny.
I think if you have a stock/mild 350 and don't dump the clutch you will be fine.
You guys are all talking about the T5 from a GM car. He wants to buy the Ford T5. I don't think the Ford unit will fit due to the input shaft difference.
