Default Convertible header panel screws

Hi,

I'm putting in a softtop in my hardtop only 68. I'm restoring a used frame and have found the inside header trim panel (black plastic). But I have no idea of what a correct set of screws was for this panel? Anyone with a convertible that knows more about this? I want it as correct as possible.

Thanks.

(Panel I refer to: http://www.chicagocorvette.net/item.php?item=20248)

Hi Martin,
I believe the fasteners for the soft trim were phillips, oval head, chrome plated, screws.
The screws have a tight fitting 'collet' the shape of the under-side of the screws head to help stop the screw from marring the vinyl on the trim piece as you tighten them.
Now that I think about it some of the screws might have a 'cup' type washer depending just where they are located.
Regards,
Alan

Hi Alan,

Hmm, just to clarify: you also refer to the panel that's screwed on to the front header bow on the convertible cage? So basically, it was chrome plated sheet-metal screws with collars, similar like those used on the windshield header molding? If you have any picture showing the panel+screw that would be great.

Thanks.

Hi Martin,
I'm winging this from coupe knowledge.
Here are the interior fasteners that I THINK would be typically used.
I hope this helps you!
Regards,
Alan

According to my Illustrated Parts Catalogue, the header trim screws are #8-18 x 7/16". The NCRS Judging Guide does not mention them. The were probably bright plated or chrome per Alan's pic.
