Yesterday when I went from my work to a cruise night at the "Tower Shops at Davie" I put a tube of super glue on my passanger seat because I needed it later at home... When I arrived at the "Tower Shops" I noticed that the tube has started leaking and super glue was all over my seat. I tried to get as much glue off the seat as possible but there is still approximatily 1/2 square inch of super glue on my seat. How can I remove the glue. Can I use acetone to remove the glue or is acetone too aggressive for the vinyl seats??
Please help!!!
ack!!! not your car. no. its not right. i have always liked your cars. well, personally, i would try just a little on the very edge of the seat, the spot that is hidden by the medal back- you can only see it if you pull the seat cushion towards the middle a little. i have never had that problem but i am guessing acetone may melt vinyl. i dont know. but, might i reccomend super glue remover? they make it and it doesnt burn your hands as far as i know. if all else fails, see if you can heat it up with a blowdryer(cover the vinyl to keep it cool) and maybe itll peel off easier. i am sorry to hear about that man. good luck :smash:
Ooh, I dont know if Id start with acetone. We use that stuff at work quite abit and it melts plastic so I dont know if Id use it on vinyl. Id start with super glue remover first...then maybe mineral spirits? I just dont think Id go with acetone unless its a last resort. What ever you do have a good vinyl conditioner right by you and as soon as you wipe off the cleaner, rub in the conditioner so you dont end up with a bleached out area.
BTW I love your cars too :yesnod: Your GrandSportC3 idea is where I came up with the idea for the theme for my project :smash: Yeah, Ive been lurking in here for a coulple weeks

Re: leaking super glue.... (GrandSportC3)
Pardon me for asking, but shouldn't your seats be leather? What's with the vinyl?
Just to keep in tempo with the previous threads, I like your cars too. :) By the way, since my front clip was destroyed by a pickup that pulled out in front of me, I plan to install a Monza tilt front clip from Ecklers. Should be sweet!
Go to a Hobby shop in your area that sells RC airplanes and such. Ask them for some DE Bonder, or Un stick it... they are designed to help loosen super glues.
Espicially fingers ( don't ask ) :D
TJRED76 has the best idea. Ask a pro shop for adivce. Also, look up the name of maker of the glue on the internet and email them for what will remove the stuff safely on your seats.

I am afraid it will.... I have some old vinyl parts of my interior. I will try acetone on them and see how they will react. The spot isn't really all that big...

I like the looks and smell of leather seats. However - I will always use "leather-like" vinyl seat covers in my Vette because they last much longer than leather. Just look at them new C5's. I saw already many C5's that had less than 50k miles on them and the drivers seat leather starts cracking. Vinyl doesn't crack!!!

P.S. I might try to get some superglue remover first and try it on some old vinyl parts and if it won't damage the vinyl - I'm going to use it on my seat!
