Transmission question
I have a '79 that I put a 383 in. I'm having problems with the transmission leaking and I can't seem to get it to stop. Its the original TH 350. I replaced the pan gasket and the other seals(forward, back and speedo seals). I am thinking of just rebuilding it and putting a shift kit in while it's apart or buying a new tranny, maybe something with four speeds. Thoughts???

do not over tighten the pan gaskets thats the surest way to make them leak....i actually use torque wrenchs when i tighten mine....also a big cuprit for leaking is the shift down cable the black plastic body always seems to leak.... un bolt this at the trans and pull it out slightly clean it and use some gasket sealent on it and gently push it back down and tighten it back up..... this fixes most of those leaks
