Default Suspension colors?

On the front suspension on my 77 what color did it come from the factory? Was it all black, or is some of it supposed to be natural?
I know the control arms are black, just not sure about the rest.

Hi Neighbor!!!

I believe all the suspension, except for the shocks, was black but i am going from memory and my memory is not the best tool in my box.

A restoration guide would answer all your questions pertaining to finishes...I would assume.
Good luck and glad to see some from the area on the forum.

Hi PB,
If 77 cars are like earlier cars...
The control arms and brake calipers were low gloss black.
The shock absorbers were gray.
The dust shields were dull zinc plated.
Large shock washers were gray phosphate.
Caliper brackets were dull cadmium dichromate.
The majority of the rest of the parts were left natural; hot rolled, forged, stamped, extruded, sand cast, or machined.
Some of these natural finishes can be duplicated, and some can't.
It's as much or little work as you want it to be.
Hope this helps you!
Regards,
Alan
