After A/C shop busted my radiator overflow tank, I purchased one of those aluminum overflow cans...holds about a quart..my friend and I have a bet going....he says I installed the can upside down....I think I installed it the only way it would properly work....The can is solid aluminum...hole on top and a hole on the bottom....no refill cap. The kit came with a hose fitting and a pet-fowl fitting....same as the one on the bottom of your radiator.....I mounted the can with the pet-fowl up and the hose fitting down....the hose goes to the radiator cap relief....I the radiator gets warm enough...expanded water forces the spring up and water flows into the tank until pressure is neutral.....then as radiator cools it draws the water back in from the tank...I left the pet-fowl open on top so water could flow both ways. My friend says the pet-fowl should be on the bottom so the water can drain....I don't want the water to drain...so I'd have to shut the pet-fowl....if I shut the pet-fowl water will not flow both ways since the hose would be on top....no there are no tubes running down into the tank......Okay.....let me have it......I can take it...did I install this thing upside down? :seeya Cappy
Are you serious? The hose goes on the bottom and the top is vented. I guess it makes sense. I've had the thing upside down for a couple of weeks then. Thanks guys.
