Fixing intake manifold to head fitting
I've got a pretty much decked block (I measure .010" and the engraved numbers are gone) and a little thinner head gasket (.028" compressed). When I put my intake manifold on, it was difficult to start the bolts, but they all went in. The heads are AFR 195's that I bought used. I do have the invoice which shows that they were the 74cc heads flat milled to 69cc and that the intake (on the head) was corrected.
I'm now burning some oil and I'm going to start by fixing the intake fit. I figure that I'm .023" - .028" off of the normal .041" head gasket and .020" - .025" deck height. I've read that for every .010" off the head, you take .0123" off the intake side, but I want to check myself how much needs to be taken off the intake. Anybody have any tips to measure this stuff?
