Default Tall People Modifications for Shifting

If you are 6'4" tall and want a four speed shifting has to consider where your left leg and knee go. there's an almost built in conflict on my c3 between the tilt lever and turn signal lever on the column. They are way out there and what my knee hits...or were.

Some of you might not have these issues but my long legs and tall body means that I have to keep the steering wheel extended all the way out and tilted up so my left knee does not hit the tilt lever and the turn signal mounted on the left side of the steering column.

Until today.

I looked and remembered that those two steel levers usually screw into the housings and sure enough they did and they screwed out too. One was ~5" long, the tilt, and the other about 8-9" or so. Not any more. Just took the rubber ***** off the ends, Dremeled the metal off and they are now about 1.5" outside the column and 4" outside the column. My left knee now has plenty of room and those long levers shorter made absolutely no difference in function at all. Took me five freaking months to figure this out!

Turn signal could functionally with some electronics be replaced to near the shift lever with buttons on and off since one hand is near the shift anyway more often than not and no lever at all.

However, present is now problem solved. I'll pass it along though you may have figured this out for yourself long ago and I'm just slow.

6'3" here, and never had any interference problems with those levers.

6-4; pulled them out, cut them off, and rethreaded them 5 years ago. Perfect.

6'2", but a size 13 shoe. I didn't have problems with the steering wheel but I did have a problem with the top of my shoe getting caught under the dash. I had to remove the A/C vent tube that runs under the steering columb and that solved the bigfoot problem

It took me five months amidst all the other things to remember to shorten the levers. Yes, could have re-threaded as well with my taps and dies stuff. It is so much better shorter! At 6'4" with size 15 feet I have boat shoes from my sailboating days that I use to drive because they are smaller than tennis/running shoes which I normally wear. Have a couple pairs of driving shoes which do the same thing as well...thin soles, reinforced under the ball of the foot.

I'm really happy with the car. Took a friend for a ride yesterday in it and he loved it as well.
