A stock tach from 75-77 vette will bolt in just fine, slight print variation but not so shabby.....
the wiring is obvious.....ground, +12 and tach input through a tach filter....which is easy to make if you can solder a wire, if not, I think someone tooled up to make them OEM style...
The lettering on your '69 gauge is greenish white, the electronic tachs as described have white lettering.
Since converting to HEI will not give you any performance boost, why bother? If you're tired of playing with points, convert your existing dist. to one of the electronic points replacement thingys and be done with it.
The 75-77 tach is probably easiest, but they were expensive when I did my LS swap. I had an Isspro tach on my shelf that had the same sweep and even the same faceplate screw hole locations as my 68 tach. I pulled the guts out of the Isspro, swapped the 68 face on it and mounted it in the dash.
