Installing a fresh 350 SMC with 1967 'hump heads' in my 76 C3 with Hedman headers. I have a 3 wire chrome 100 amp alternator I'd like to install and understand the heads don't have holes to mount the standard 76 alternator brackets.
I was told C3's up to 1971 with 'hump heads' and headers need specific bracket (s). Where can I get them? Wouldn't mind used parts - I want to chrome them anyway.

Mike,
I do not have an answer on this. However email or call Gus at Corvette Central. He most likely will have the answer and parts.

If you are running headers, I'm lost. I don't know of a bracket kit that will allow you to mount the alternator.
If you are not running headers, then you'll need the manifold for the passenger side with the blunt snout just like the 1964-1971 cars used and this is probably what your friends are telling you about.
The brackets mounted to the manifold and will allow you to bolt the alternator up. If you need a pic of the brackets and mounting.. just post back.
Again.. this is dependant on if you are going to run headers.
If you are running headers, Mike probably knows more about the aftermarket brackets than I do... so I would also check headman and see if they offer something.
Transdapt (a division of Hedman) has chrome alternator brackets to mount the alternator on the driver's side. They are P/N 9008 and 9254. I don't know what you'd use if your alternator is on the passenger's side.

Are you using a Long or Short (Corvette) water pump and are you mounting on pass or driver side?
1) I am installing Hedman headers.
2) The water pump is a direct stock replacement and believe it's the long version although I'll need to check.
3) I will be installing the alternator on the drivers side which is the stock location.
4) I'll reach out to Transdapt and explore their chrome options. I like the idea of the chrome brackets.
Just installed a new Hurst Comp pro plust shifter assembly on the freshly detailed trans and it looks good sitting on the bench with the white HURST shifter ball..
Installed the crank and cam in the engine last night and looking to install the pistons and heads this weekend and wrap it up. With a fresh new coat of orange paint it should look good.. and hopefully run good too..

The bracket for this application should be the "F" bracket that's available from most of the usual suspects Summit etc.
