Hello everyone, Im new to this site so bare with me..my question is
Does the engine sit off-centre line in the engine bay? I noticed mine does when viewed from the front with the bonnet off the car! Its over the the passenger side...clearly if it was in the centre of the car thet ancillaries like steering pumps and steering box would be in the way and hit the frame.
Since i purchased the car it has given up some of its history as possibly having an accident damage to the frame on the driver side( slight ripples arounf the a arms etc...which bugs me to feel the whole thing has possibly moved over...Any experts out there with thoughts are appreciated
where do i start! Mistake no1 was buying it on ebay without seeing it..anyways movin on, lets start with
Wiper door no op..there doesnt seem to be much vacuum at the control valve(under the right wing) thought maybe the electrically operated vacuum valve under the dash drivers side! although the relay is triggering when u switch the wipers on. if i manually open the door and then close off the opening in door actuator valve ..it then closes on its own..but not without my finger blocking the hole..it wont open under its own .Ive downloaded the schematic vacuum diagram and read on what does what..but its a puzzle.
Brakes..need bleeding badly..the history with the car had garages change calipers etc...but the pedal still goes to the floor..it must have worked to be able to drive it away...but they dont now! no evidence of leaks...i have put a master cylinder on ..but still not getting any pressure.
this car has matching numbers was sold as a yellow over tan interior...the tag is correct...but when i popped the tail lights the car told me i was once green.....need i say more...i did find it on the C3 register..picture and all, but would love to know what the history/story is.
Don't give up hope...when I bought my '70 14 years ago it had all the same problems that you're seeing, but I bought it from a little old lady who had it "Midas-ized" every time it needed work. Not abused, just neglected and badly in need of TLC. I have since had the motor out three times, rebuilt the front end, rear end, T-arms, brakes, reupholstered the seats, painted it, swapped in a four-speed, etc., etc. etc., etc., etc.,...if I made a list of all the things that I'd like to either a) fix or b) improve right now I'd be typing all night, but it's still been worth all the pain and expense. Damn near every time I drive it something else either falls off or breaks or stops working, but I just drag out the catalogs and keep ordering up the parts and screwing them back on. I drove it to Fontana for the NASCAR race last Sunday and it was the star of the (Parking lot) show...it squeaks and creaks and leaks and wanders and jumps when I hit the brake pedal but it's still fun as hell to drive and even more fun to be seen in. Especially when compared with all the anonymous-looking cars on the road today a reasonably clean C3 Vette looks like a rolling spaceship going down the road...people just gawk when they see it go by...especially kids. Priceless.

Thanks for the morale uplift...Our love of these cars with all the headaches they can sometimes give us all pale into insignificance when you climdb behind the wheel and open the throttle up and the smile automatically re appears on the face of the driver..im learning that a good nights sleep works well giving renewed optimisim for the challenges ahead..appreciate your support
When I get tired of working on it I close the hood and walk away till another day.somehow things look different and it all falls into place the next time.well most of the time.
