Default Vette stumbles from a dead dig...

So I'm having this issue when I try to nail it from a dead stop. Other than that it runs great. No issues during idle or when driving. Even if I nail it from a roll its fine. But if I'm at a dead stop, or even if I just cram on it in the driveway it stumbles, backfires through the carb, and in sometimes just completely stalls. Anyone got any advice or a remedy for my problem? Thanks. Also the car has a 3 speed auto.

Most likely accelerator pump (if Q-Jet). Plenty of posts on this subject. I replaced mine 3 times (had the same symptoms) until I got a good one from Cliff Ruggles (around $20 delivered) and since then, no problem whatsoever.

Easy check, pop air filter off carb and while looking down primaries, actuate the throttle through the entire range and you should see two POWERFUL jets of gas from the pump squirting into the carb throats. Best to do this with the car turned OFF ;-). The squirting jets should look like you after drinking 6+ beers and in need of a restroom for the past 3 hours, not a couple of 'dribbles'.

Takes less than 30 minutes to replace on a Q-Jet.

Good luck!
