First off, thanks to all of you that has provided countless advice during my build. I have an issue that I haven't encountered before. My 1980 starts fine but when I turn the key to off nothing happens. I have to put my hands over the carb to kill it. Oh, the steering column was just recently rebuilt. Any help that you can give, as always, is greatly appreciated.
You didn't mention the ignition system you're running, as MSD's and other's can sometime's be back fed through the gauge or warning light's and do this. Installing a diode in the circuit will prevent this, if possibly your problem.

I am running MSD ignition. Could you explain the diode install?
I'm running an MSD-6AL on a car and originally had the same run on problem. This was in the early 90's, and looking at ppg 15 of the manual, show's the diode installation. It's a very common 1 amp/100 volt part availible at most Radio Shack's for a few buck's. Since the MSD's wired directly to the battery, doesn't take much trigger back feed to keep it energized. If needed, I'll e-mail you the page. Mark

Mark, that would help greatly. I would appreciate the email. PM me so I can give you my email. Thanks.

Yea, guess I could do that, but would of been easier if you already gave me an address. Anyway, probably quickest if you go to the "msdignition.com" site, click on instruction's and enter "6420"(the unit I'm using) and ppg 8 of the pdf show's what you're looking for. Not sure, but you may already have the needed diode included in your kit.

Are the stereo and other accessories staying on as well or do they turn off?
