Default can anyone please help with this distributor wire

hi , i need some help, i usually just use the search function becuase almost every question is answered but i dont know what to call this wire and i need some help,

i have a 73 big block that i am rebuilding, it was a neglected car by the previous owner, running but not very well, when i disconnected the distributor i noticed there was one wire inside the distributor connected to nothing on one end, and came out of the distributor and connected to the positve end of the dist. coil, i was wondering if anyone knows what its purpose is and if and where it should be connected, From the diagram below it is the long wire labeled PO-8

thanks in advance for your help

Don't see the diagram, but on 73s with points there was only one wire from the distributor and that goes to the negative side of the coil.

The wire from the coil enters the bottom of the dizzy and is routed (along with the condenser lead) to the connector on the points.

Wombvette and 7T1vette are both correct. Your wire is connected to the wrong side of the coil.

thanks for the help, it seems that my distributor was retrofit with some newer technology that replaced the condenser, i am not quite sure what that technology is yet, but i am reading up on it right now, i think it is called an electronic ignition conversion.

thanks for the help and knowledge, not only did i learn about the wire in question but i learned a new slang term, "dizzy".
