slow starter
When the engine is hot and it is shut down and cranked back up shortly after the starter is slow extremly slow. Is it getting too hot? Could a simple installation of some type of heat sheild or insulation wrap fix the problem? What do you recomend?

Yes it is getting hot. It is called heat soak. It is worse if you have headers. The pipes run close to the starter and heat the windings up which causes resistance in the starter. If the starter is old this can happen also. Some have had success wrapping the starter with heat wrap, I purchased a mini starter and it cranks very fast hot or cold. The starter is much smaller and lighter also. Very common problem.
