Default Header gasket

Did a little searching and found different schools of thought on the subject (imagine that) My question is when installing new header gaskets do I match the square port on the head which appears to be about 1 3/8" across or match the round exhaust pipe on the header? (or does it really matter?)Thanks!

Default As long as the gasket doesn't restrict the exhaust flow...

You might create a sealing problem if you try a gasket with only a small amount of material in the corners or at the bolt holes. You're reaching for a small amount of flow anyway. Buy some heads with round exhaust ports, match them up and be done with it.

Actually sound's like you may have the wrong header's for your application, and gasket leak's are not a fun thing. If the header flanges have raised surfaces around the tube's I've had good luck with Mr Gasket Pro Seal's, as usually no need to re-torque them. If the flange is flat, copper's with a bead work well, but important the port's properly match up. You may want to test fit, before bolting everything together.
