I used dynomax on my 69 350 convertible and liked them, but I got the 'custom' units from Ecklers which are now $109 ea! They're nice because they bolt up with no modifications and use the stock hangars and exhaust tips (no muffler shop required); plus they sounds pretty nice, but that ain't cheap.
I'm interested in hearing what other mufflers you folks have used, how well they fit, what the installation was like, what they cost, and what part numbers they are.
in the overall picture, the direct fit dynomax may be worth it... depends if you want to pay a muffler shop, or DIY. i think the super turbos are the only bolt-on aftermarket mufflers.
Re: Mufflers - What Fits at 69 Big Block? (Turbo-Jet)
Yeah. Maybe so.... I can't say I don't like the sound of the dynomax. Its not super loud but has a great tone. Of course that's on a small block. A tri-power Big Block might be a bit noisier.
I had the chambered pipes on my '71 454. Nice sound, especially outside, but I'm not sure I want to rumpf... rumpf... burble... burble... quite that much again. Maybe a crossover pipe would help that situation. Anyone use the chambered pipes with a x-over?
