'76 Heater Core
I plan on replacing the core and am wondering if it is necessary to remove the consul gauges, radio and hvac box to just replace the core?

I just replaced mine and it will be easier if you do remove the gauges and radio. I also removed the dash pad.
The heater core is buried within the HVAC box and it must be lifted straight up for the ends of the core pipes to clear the firewall.
You may want to replace the seals on the box while you are in there. My 76 had gaps up to 1/8". The seals are cheap.
Good color on your car. Mine is Bright Yellow too.

Thanks! Where did you get the seals? I see Zip has a complete set for about $45 plus shipping.
