I have a 69 427 tripower . I am changing the side exhausts to the full dual underfloor system as the side pipes are very loud and not neighbour friendly.
I live in Ireland and the car is kept outdoor all year round .
Could anyone advise which are the best exhausts to buy as I will be fitting them myself onto the original headers ?
Should I go for the stainless steel exhausts and if so could you recommend a supplier.
Hi pete,
69 tri-power NICE!!!!
By 'original' headers do you mean the original exhaust manifolds?
If so, I'd suggest you take a look at the web sites for Corvette Central, Allens Exhaust, and Gardner's Exhaust for both stainless steel and aluminiumized stock style exhaust systems.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
You have the factory side exhaust with exhaust manifolds and its to loud? I'm just curious because my SBC will be using factory side pipes and I wasn't expecting it to be obnoxiously loud.
Thank you for your replies. The side exhausts I have are old and the mufflers may have little effect.
I just came back from a drive and my ears were ringing. I live in a built up area so when i start the car in the mornings my neighbours hear it as well. I think the standard exhausts will be more user friendly.
If you want to run under the car exhaust, order the exhaust system for
a 1968 435 HP 427, the pipes are a larger diameter, you should pick up power plus it will be quieter.
