Default Headlight manual opening

Hi all, I have got a 1980 and have been reading up on how to manually open the headlights(just in case). I am confused, I read that there is a manual turn mechanism but cant find it. I found the manual switch under the dash, when I pull it all I hear is air. Any easy instructions will be very apprec.
Thanks ROB

The manual over ride switch will work unless you have other vacuum problems. If you are not getting vacuum to the headlights the manual over ride will not work. In that case you have to reach under the front end below the headlights and operate the mechanism by hand. Not a bad job unless it's raining.

When you pull that switch down and you hear air, you have a leak under there. The switch could be cracked or a hose off. You should not hear any air.
