1979 Hood Insulation
I need the hood insulation for a 1979 corvette. I have been told that the OEM original is no longer produced? Is this true. I have only been able to find a replacement that is not formed to the hood? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

About a year ago I ordered a hood insulation from my local chevy dealer. It was $85 and change. When it came it looked bad, so bad you could see right through it. I would go with the roll method. You do need some insulation there as my original lacquer paint from St. Louis is starting to check from the engine heat. Jim

After reading the posts I'm wondering if the insulation is really needed. I've had the insulation off my 74 for more years than I can remember and it hasn't done any harm to the fiberglass or the paint. Do you guys use the insulation for originality or is it really needed. :confused:
