I've got the dual force (think that is the name) and not sure how I feel about it. It grips well but it feels like it grinds or binds alot when I engage the clutch. It comes and goes so I am going to live with it. I'll deal with it if it gets real bad or wait till I put my 383 back in next year. Sorry I couldn't give a definitive answer.
I'm using their clutch #384148. It's not the dual friction, it's just their standard clutch, pressure plate # 165552. I really like it, but I'm not doing burn outs.

Paul,
As most who have followed any of my posts know, I'm a huge proponent of using GM parts, but Centerforce really does make a good clutch. Much less pedal pressure than the original GM unit and superior clamping force.
I agree with your decision to use the standard Centerforce clutch. I have two currently installed (and two more that will be installed) behind some pretty stout engines and I can tell you that the standard unit has no problem with 500 horsepower big block. The dual friction model may be the hot ticket for the serious drag car (on slicks) or one with an engine far in excess of what most of us run on the street, but it is pretty much overkill for most of us.
While Centerforce offers their own throwout bearing, I prefer to use the GM part as I feel it is of better quality.
Overkill is how these companies make there money on idiots like me! :bb
Any ideas what could be causing the clutch binding/grinding I am experiencing? Feels like the throw out bearing and the pressure plate not like to kiss.
I have the dual friction and like it a lot. I really appreciated the lower pedal pressure - that made a big difference in driveability. It grips just fine, and never chatters.

i have the standard Centerforce behind my car it it is great. I have drag raced it plenty and it holds everything I throw at it. Have not run sticky tires but I'm not afraid to either with this clutch.
I use the standard one on a 405hp LT-5 and it's has never sliped and pedal is as light as the throtle, the dual friction would be a waist of money.:nono:
Paul
I have the dual friction on mine, probably overkill but that's better then underkill, probably could have gone a step down but too late now. Works great, pedal effort is about the same as stock. I do have a friend however that had problems with his, causing a bad vibration becouse the weights shifted on it, but this seems to be uncommon.
I have the Ceterforce Dual Friction unit and it has worked perfectly over the past few years. Easy pedal pressure and hooks-up hard....no slipping or and kind of vibrations :smash: :chevy
