Trans fluid leak
My 82's 700R4 has a static leak that I can't quite pinpoint. I changed the fluid, pan gasket, and filter after I bought. It was not leaking when I first bought it but because it had been sitting for a while, I decided to change out the fluid and filter. It leaks while cold sitting in the garage.
The replacement filters are larger than the original but fit just the same. My leak does not appear to be from the pan or the front seal. The leak is on the right side towards the middle of the pan from what I can tell. I haven't been able to access a lift yet.
Is there a part or seal in that area prone to leakage? I want to fix it myself rather than take it to a trans shop. Thanks.
I just went through this on my TH400. Turned out the dipstick tube o-ring was bad. Cheap easy fix. Don't know about 700R4s. Could be a fitting on one of the lines just needs to be better sealed and/or tightened.
