Default SBC engine weight?
Whats the weight of a stock SBC with iron heads etc? Just looking to buy a new engine stand and was looking at a 500lb one which was quite reasonable.

Go for the stands that have two legs rather than one with a cross bar. They are much more stable.

Can't go wrong with heavier duty stand.better too much than not enough.

The generally accepted weight for an all-cast iron small block chevy is 575 lbs.
