Default removing a/c condenser

is it possible to remove an a/c condenser on a 76 without removing the hood? I know there are only 6 bolts to remove the hood, but it could probably save some time. However if the best way is to remove the hood, thats what I will do.

Remove the hood.It only takes 5 minutes.mark the brackets with chalk or magic marker.it helps if you have a couple of people to hold while you unscrew the bolts.put masking tape around the edge of the fenders to keep from chipping the paint. It will make it a whole lot easier.

When I first got my 73 I pulled the hood off without marking anything...duh. It only took me about 10 minutes to get everything lined up. I say take the hood off, it makes life easier for a lot of things.

Hi Sweeet 76. I have the same year with air. I used masking tape to "outline the hinge" to allow for exact replacement. There will be minimum clearance or none if the hood is not removed.

I used a piece of cardboard between the Rad as to not damage fins on it or the A/C condensor. Good advice by 'rugerm44' on masking the fender edges. I would lay down some non scratching covering like blankets over the fenders and front end just in case something slips.

Beware there maybe a wee bit of oil and possibly a sloppy mess. Good Luck.

Dano,
