I have a 1975 convertible and any time you put the key in the ignition the headlights are on. If you take the key out the lights go off. Just replaced the headlight switch and and everything works as it should from the switch, just that the headlights are on anytime the key is in the ignition. What could be causing this issue?
Sorry forgot one thing. I just installed Dewitt’s radiator and had to remove the upper two radiator support screws and loosen the bottom one on both sides.
Does the new radiator have electric fans on it? Did you run a dedicated ground wire from those fans to the alternator or to the battery? If you only ran the fan ground to the radiator sheet metal, you've set up a 'ground loop' and it is backfeeding the headlight circuit.
Your going love this, BUBA at his best. Solved the issue. Looks like the prior owner aka BUBA installed wires and a buzzer on the fuse box to warn that lights are on with the key in the ignition. Removed all that crap and restored to factory and all is perfect. Seems BUBA has graduated. I can't believe what some people will do. Hope that gives you a laugh, I was in tears. Thanks.
