Default backfire through carb

So i think i am just paranoid now because the past couple of days i have been trying to get the timing down on my new msd 8362.. first thing i did was put the gold springs so it could advance faster... wow. it did not like those springs at all. backfire through the carb like hell. so i went ahead and changed out my power valve to ensure it wasnt blown. I then put the stock springs back in to give them a try. and what do ya know. initial timing at 14 and a total of 35. this dizzy has mechanical advance of 21 and i have my vacuum advance plugged. got it running like a CHAMP, but a little while ago the engine had gotten cold and needed warming up again to stay alive. So i was holding the pedal with my foot to keep it around 1500 or so and about the first minute i let my foot off the gas it tried to die and i tried catching it before it did, but it ended up backfiring through the carb. after that incident i let it warm up fully and was fine. just wondering if that is a normal thing to happen when warming up? im just so paranoid about all the backfiring in the past couple of days haha. i wanna say its normal but i would like yalls opinion on this.

It is an old car with a carb, and yes, it needs to warm up. Make sure your choke is operation correctly

You are OK how would you like to spend a house down-payment on a motor and have it backfire at 6000RPM because of crappy MSD E-Curve distributor. Mine runs fine after I went back to the normal billet MSD distributor and box.

wow.. i would have flipped out haha. there is a guy down here that took out a loan as well on a v6 in his grand national. the FIRST run down the track the block cracked. so yeah i knew i shouldnt worry i knew it was normal if you try to catch it from dying like that. i just drove myself crazy with the timing haha.

i have another question.. my cam has affected my lights from going up. well. the passenger side light goes up just right. my right one is sloooowwwwwwww. is that something i will just have to live with with my cam being bigger? i have just been pulling it up manually the pas couple of nights haha

Yes your cam has cause low vaccumm , if you rev it up a little the lights should come up faster, if not you may need a vaccum canister.Ron
