Hey folks
The turn signals on my 73 seem to be working intermittently. For example, they worked yesterday morning but then when I started the car up that night to head to our club meeting, nothing.
I poked around for the obvious but found nothing. Any suggestions on common failure points, etc? Steps to diagnose perhaps?
My girlfriends 68 had similar symptoms. It turned out to be two different issues. I had just re-installed the steering column, and the large flat wiring connector under the the column was not inserted completely. Once I had that fixed I found that the turn signals would work, but the flashing speed would slow down then finally stop altogether. I replaced the flasher and all was well.

Thanks. I will check the connector.
Also was the flashing slower on both sides or just one? My left blinks noticeably faster than the right.

Have you checked the bulbs?
On many cars if one turn signal bulb is burned out the signal on that side will flash quicker. I believe this is because there is less electrical resistance due to only one bulb on that side lighting up.
But to answer your question, on Liz's 68 when the flasher was going out both sides acted the same.
