Default SS Header Update

Well, I talked to Josh (Custom Image), and he is not taking returns on the headers. It's possible but not certain at this point that the manufacturer might consider a replacement for the passenger side. Basically, for the modest price of the headers, they are sold "as is" and I will have to make the minor adjustments to make them fit.

I'm not really angry over the deal, but I have decided to sell the set if anyone's interested. (Elongating some of the bolt holes 1/8" should allow them to fit). I believe there is a For Sale section on the forum and I will post there.
Here's a chance for a deal if you don't mind the slight modification!

Update; these headers have been posted for sale 3-27-12. Ken

C3 Stroker, sorry the manufacturer won't accept returns for headers that were purchased last year. But I will make sure that you get a replacement header so your set is correct. So if you still want to sell them the set will be right.

Well based on the info, I guess Custom Image has a quality-control problem.

Custom Image does not stock or manufacture theses headers. The manufacturer will not accept returns. I would challenge you to find a manufacturer\supplier that will take a return on an item that was purchased over 8 months ago. Custom Image has stated that they will get the customer a replacement header to make the situation right.

Mar, I suggest that you strongly consider your comments before you post them. Custom Image is a supporting vendor on this forum and is most definitely not a deadbeat organization. We are constantly reaching out to fellow forum members who need help or assistance. You have never purchased from Custom Image therefore you have no foundation for your comments so they are nothing but slanderous and illwaranted. Why don't you buy something and I will personally show you just how good our customer service is. If you are not going to buy something than I suggest that you stop posting in threads that you genuinely don't have a vested interest in.

Elongating holes an 1/8" to make a part fit is something I have done many of times. Yeah it sucks but at least it's something I can do with my primitive basic tool set in my condo compared to others tool arsenal in their garage or man caves. I have been through a lot worse to make various parts work on my vettes that I have owned. A few of the times I got a replacement that worked and the rest was taking matters I into my own control fixing it myself or taking it to another person to be fixed. Never had a vendor consider a refund after such a long period. Definitely it's not an ideal situation to have to significantly modify a part but elongating bolt holes "slightly" seems trivial when you could have a lot worse problems with your fitment headers.

I am going to get mine on and lined up with the exhaust I now have so the existing pipes need to be tweaked a little. I have been real busy but I want it on the chassis dyno before July

These headers are now listed for sale. I sent them to Josh (Custom Image) who test fitted them on a couple heads and he said they bolted on fine. I would have to elongate the holes a little to fit them on mine. I have decided to abandon the install.

Just saw this thread ,Man i can give you a horror story about these headers,I was the first to buy a set of these ,they dont fit a 69,period.I paid $600.00 for a product that does not fit my car.The outlets ran right in to both my drivers and passanger floor boards,3/4 of outlets are into the floor boards, only a 1/4 sticks outside the floor boards,so you cant hook up an exhaust, real nice right well it doesnt stop there on the passanger side header bolt flange was bowed ,could not draw it in,stripped 2 headers bolts trying to do it.Lucky i already had a mini starter, stock one will not work. One of the spark plugs would not go in,too long, primary too close to it,so i tried short plugs and i was able to get the plug in,but it is real close to it,it would burn the wire that was on it,so i wrap heat wrap around it to make it work, real nice And the company who made them wont give refunds So then i try to cut outlet flanges off as far as i can go 1/4" up to the primaries on both headers to be able to get a exhaust pipe on them ,still cant ,must get a custom exhaust place to see if they can make them work. Also on the bowed exhaust flange,i had to cut out in between both sides of the inner primary tube and the outside primary tube.Cutout right up to the header bolt holes if you know what im trying to say,to just be able to get the header to seal against the head. Oh yes i forgot a little detail,i had new set of edelbrock victor jr heads that i was told these headers would fit, guess what ,wouldnt fit at all ,had about 4 spark plugs that you could not even get in the holes, even with short plugs.real nice huh . So now i have a set of nice looking headers, that i paid $600.00 fo and cannot use ,so i asked if afr heads would work with them and i was told yes,i buy a set of afr heads and i got what i just described to you in the beginning. I dont want to bash Josh,he is making some good stuff for our cars, but something should have been done about all this. All in all ive spent around $3,200.00 for headers i cant use.I did take pics of all this and sent them to Josh to show him my problems. thanks for listening,Bill
