I would like to swap the 700R4 in my '79 for a manual. I have looked at the Keisler kits but they are really pricey. I have an M-21 and a bunch of bellhousings and flywheels lying around, so I might just swap that stuff in instead. Any advice from someone who has done it?
Keep one bellhousing/flywheel, sell the 700R, M21 and the rest of the pieces and buy a TKO 5/600 (you shouldn't be too out of pocket after you turn the other stuff into cash) /:\
I agree, do a 5spd instead. I just finished installing a Tremec TKO 600, it is a different car!
BTW, I didn't use any of the mechanical clutch linkage parts or the bellhousing from my TKO kit, I changed my mind at the last minute and went with a hydraulic clutch and a scattershield instead. I will be selling all that brand new stuff. I also have a spare set of pedals I will be selling. Let me know if you are interested in any of it.
Drwet, I thought I had sent you a copy of my narrative outlining the swap...seems like I had sent it to about 20 people in the last month or so. If I haven't already PM me with your email address and I'll send you a copy.
