Is a T5 a Tremec? I lose track of all the acronyms somedays. Even if your rear ratio is higher numerically, I would say yes, good combo. The 3.70's should be fine when used with tires that are near stock height, 26.9" - 27" tall.
Any trans that has overdrive has to help highway cruising, both in terms of less engine rpms and greater satisfaction of enjoying the car more often.
There are a few folks here who have installed the T5. I'm seriously considering it as a replacement for the stock 4 speed.
Just make sure you get a T5 that was designed for and was behind a V8 and not the V6 version. Tougher to find the GM V8 version but can be found in the $500-$800 range.
