Default Diving into the engine bay!

Now that my rear suspension is finished I have decided to start on the engine and engine bay. I had to pull the radiator and core support as old support was swiss cheese. I have decided to go ahead and pull the engine to clean up the bay and make any engine projects easier. My first question is this. What should I replace on my engine as far as seals and other items that dry rot over time? (the engine has 41k on it but only 1k since 1981) So mileage isnt an issue just age and it ran fine what few miles I put on it. 2nd question what should I adress in engine bay while motor is out? I plan to replace all hoses and vacuum lines. Should heater core and box be looked at etc? oh yeah it is a stock 1979 l48.

If the engine is out I would at least replace all gaskets such as valve cover, oil pan, timing chain, and If it were me I would go alot further. Depending on ability I would at least put rear main seal in. Depending on what was done for rear gears maybe a mild cam replacement? Let us know and post some pics while you do it.
