Default Points to hei conversion double check

The previous owner swapped the points out of the OE distributor with a pertronix kit. I am trying to make sure he did it right.

What color is the original resistance wire in a 73 ? Pink ?

Does the entire wire back to the fuse block need to be replaced ?

The condenser/capacitor is still mounted to the coil, do I need this ?

What symptoms would the wrong supply wire give me ?

What would that condenser be doing now ?

these are the instruction for the petronix unit, you need a 12V source, typically there is an empty spot on fuse block where you can run the wire

The condenser on the coil is for radio interference

The pertronix kit or anything similar is not HEI. It simply replaces the mechanical points with an electrical switch. Big difference.

Thank you!

It's been a pet peeve of mine to hear the label HEI thrown around to describe anything that doesn't have points. As you correctly stated there is a big difference.

Again,
