Numbers Missing From Timing Pointer?

Numbers Missing From Timing Pointer?
My stock 77 L48 runs well, but I wanted to check the timing. The pointer is in place, but a heavy coat of paint has obscured the markings. I see the notches, and the deep notch towards the lower end, is the deep notch TDC, or Chevy's suggested ignition timing setting? Thanks in advance!
