behind the motor passenger head is a electrical plug in ,that has two electrical connections that have burnt.i am looking for a wheather pack connection of 2 or 6 to replace the bad wires .these wires are the main power line to the starter .any ideas?
yes i did think about that .i thought that might even be better .but i did not want anyone to think that bubba had hit again and bubba was me .i dont see where it would make any differance.did the factory do it for easy assembly?
I had the same issue on my 82 as well, I just got the two harnesses from one of the vendors, fixed it up good as new, and looks good, too. Wasn't hard to install, either.

I think it was just a production thing. I do think it would be a better connection but if you want to stay correct then replacing the harness is probably best.
Someone posted awhile back a place you can get most of the GM type connectors. I thought I bookmarked it but can't seem to find it.
roger if the earlier years did not have them and they worked fine ,then soldering them sounds good.thanks for all replys
If it were my own car that is what I would do,if it was a customer car I would give them the choice but would recommend soldering.
The bad or poor connection probably caused the burning of the connector (usually is the case at that connection)but keep your eyes open to other possible causes.
rodger you are correct .i could see that it was plugged in okay ,but the conection was sparking when i moved the wire.the spade part is not a good fit in the receiving end. i could clamp it but i want a good connection and be done,no worrys later .
