I have had problem with the door switches in my 79. One of them looked like it was ok but it had been pushed back in the collar and even though it looked like it worked it was to short to work with the door. I had to unbolt the switch force the inner collar up into the outer collar and crimp it in place. I has worked fine since. I could also be the head light switch is rotated all the way to one side which turns on the interior lights or other more difficult wiring problems. Good luck
78-82 Corvettes have a delay timer, that leaves the interior lights on for about 30 seconds, after the doors are closed. I would guess that you have a bad timer.
The timer is located in the dash, to the right of the of the glove box. It's an orange plastic box, approximately 2" square. You should be able to find it by removing the glove box liner.
Once you locate the timer, connect a wire from the timer's ground terminal (the black wire) to a ground to test it, or just by-pass it all together.
