Does this ECM have a sleep mode where it draws no current or is it always awake? If so what should the draw be?

Good question. With the key off I don't think it should be drawing anything. On the other hand it does have a built in memory for codes. Logic suggests it may draw a bit. In thinking about it I don't know.

why do you ask?

If your battery is draining, it isn't because of the ECM. More likely due to a bad interior lamp dimmer device. Your drain would have to be pretty significant for it to waste a big battery...unless the battery is almost 'toast'.

With all accessory, lights and alternator disconnected, there is a draw which will drain the battery to a no start condition. There is no draw until I connect the computer fuse in the batt compartment, then approximately 2.3 A. If the fuse is in the ECM stays warm to touch.

You may just have an ECM with an internal short. The ECM shouldn't draw more than 100 ma when at idle, if working properly. Quite unusual...

Thanks everyone. Replacing it is where I was heading, just looking for sound second opinions.
