I gather that the original engine with the appropriate "CKZ" broadcast code is no longer with the car.
A few other items that should be present...
Aluminum radiator (no shroud for 1972 ZR-1), heavy duty power brakes (and the associated hardware that goes with them), an M-22 transmission (a required option - no M-21 equipped ZR-1s) with an assembly and VIN derivative stamp, no radio (or any of the associated ground straps that go along with it)... Also no power windows, air conditioning, full wheel covers, or rear window defogger should be present.
The heavy duty suspension required with the ZR-1 included some special shock absorbers and mounts in addition to the higher rate front and rear springs. I'm sure the shocks are long gone, but the mounts may still be there (part numbers 3829265 and 3829266 which were F-41 specific). The shock mounts are not a foolproof method to identify an F-41 equipped car as these mounts became the standard replacement part later on. If the front springs are original, check for the spring tags.
according to my trusty black book :D the engine suffix (the 3 letter stamp on the block) should be CKZ for ZR1 cars. other than that i dont see much ZR1 info. however other engine suffixes for the LT-1 engine were CKY (manual tranny), CRS (AIR, auto tranny), and CRT (manual tranny, AIR usage uncertain for these), also the carb for the LT-1s were Holleys (the only engine in 72 that did not have Rochester)
it also says they normally did not have fan shrouds.
now for a list of options you could NOT get on a ZR1.
A31 - power windows
C50 - rear window defroster
C60 - air cond.
N40 - power steering
P02 - deluxe wheel covers
U69 - AM/FM radio
U79 - AM/FM radio, Stereo
I have a 72 ZR-1 block with the CKZ casting number. If you need the entire number let me know. It needs resleeve and is bored .30. Would be cool to reunit it with its owner or at least its owners sibling. Pay for shipping and it is yours, just return the favor to another needy forum member.
Gotta m-22 Muncie in my car. Not sure if it mates with the engine. Funny thing, according to my trusty Chilton's manual, the ZR-1 was only rated at 255 horse. Funny they would dress the car up to be high performance but down grade the horse power. If this horse power is wrong, correct me.
Hey Fevre I just sent you an IM, will tak to SuperFast to see if he is into a road trip to one of the most beautiful places in the US. Ann Arbour. It has the mechanical 's and very heavy clutch with fairly strong power brakes, they are stainless steel now.
