I want to remove the AIR tube assembly on the right had side to find where it is leaking.
The main tube is easy to disconnect at the air pump/check valve interface, but I can't tell how to remove the small tubes that go into the exhaust manifold.
It looks like they are just pushed into holes drilled into the manifold.
The tubes are probably heat welded from 30 years of use.
Has anyone removed the AIR tube without damaging the small tubes?
I have mine off the car, replaced with headers. From what I can see, you may be able to drift them out from the inside, but I really don't know for sure. Are you gonna have the holes welded closed?
I have a couple sets of those manifolds, they are Stainless, & they are welded in at the factory. They are not made to come off without cutting them off. Have a great day. Gene
They are stock stainless 82 factory headers that he has ported, polished, ceramic coated, and removed the AIR tube restriction inside the down tubes. They are a little pricey, but it would take care of your problem, improve your exhaust flow and performance, and look good too. I have heard nothing but good things about the quality of his products as well. I am looking at going with a set of these or his side dump headers to put side exhaust on an 82. Good luck!
