Default C-3 Throttle Linkage Question

I have another '69 but am looking to update a couple of things to newer design.
1. What year did the piece which the throttle pedal change from the round metal bar which has a piece of stamped steel attach to it to go up to the throttle cable; to the one piece round bar that is 'S' shaped and goes all the way up from the pedal to the cable? I'm remembering 1974 but it's a little cloudy.
I would like to buy one of the newer assemblies if someone has one close by but if I need to get one from the dealership need to know what year. The parts counter guy can't tell from the EPC.

Thanks, Locke

Why arent you checking the online catalogs that sponsoring vendors have. Many have photos of the parts so you can decide what you want. A parts counter guy isnt going to be able to help you.

I have and while Eckler's and Mid America don't seem to service the part the Zip catalog/website does have a listing for one part which fits 1969 to 1976. That's the rod we were using on race cars back in the late 70's to 80's because it didn't bend as easily as the first design ('68 to ?).
They sell it for $51.50 along with the little plastic pivot for additional $49.95.
As many dead C-3 Vettes as are being shown as being parted out over in the C3 Parts for Sale forum and as little demand as there would seem to be for the throttle rod and pivot; I thought that if I could isolate when the updated part was introduced that I might be able to pick up what I was looking for at a lower price.
I recognize that doing so isn't supporting our fine vendors who support this Forum but it will be supporting a fellow Fourm Member and helping keep one little piece of trash out of the landfill.......
I'd be glad to trade my pair of seats that I can't seem to give away for a complete throttle assembly from pedal to cable!

Looking in the GM book it lists the rod as 69-76 and a later one as 77-82.
I think there were some early 69s that had the 68 2 piece design.

Roger
I looked awhile back in my old parts manual and did notice the rod numbers, (Group 3.431).
68-69 PN 3934092
69-76 PN 340692
77-82 PN 460827
The support, which I'm thinking is the pivot Group 3.454, remains the same from 69-82 at PN 3972620.
That doesn't jive with my memory that the new style was a two piece design that had a plactic base piece and a steel cover over it which held the rod in place while the old design was just a one piece plactic piece.
Of course, they could have adjusted the parts manual to list just the newer design since it worked on both rods and may have been a substitution.

Can you tell you're talking to an old parts counter man from 1977-1979 till I left for San Antiono for Basic Training!

Of course, knowing the part number from GM won't really help in tracking down a used one and knowing what model year to ask for.

Perhaps the best solution would be to PM the people parting out 71-79s and ask for the entire pedal assembly. Gee, I should have thought of that sooner

That might be your safest bet,by 71 they were all changed over.
Reading the old parts book was an art,I always enjoyed it.
