I have a 73 350 L48 convertible that I'm considering converting it to a fuel injection car. Looking through the many options I'm considering the TPI units. I like the looks and for my stock low powered engine I think it would mate up well. My biggest concern is hood clearance. Does anyone know if the TPI unit will fit under my stock hood? Also I think I read somewhere about a weather pack for the TPI ecu. Where would I find one of those?
Yes it fits under stock hood i had tpi before i swapped to a ls1 ,very dependable plenty of low end torque.as far as weatherpack i had my ecu inside under dash.Ive git pictures on webshots.com of my old setup.

Thanks for the info and the picture. I'm trying to squeeze as much mileage and driveability out of this car as possible and just think this mod will help. Was it hard to mount the ecu or run the wires through the firewall?

If you look in the one picture you can c where i went in firewall then turn 90 degrees down through wiper cowl area to just over heater box.Not much more wire to go any farther.I thought it was a cleaner look.
Ok I thought of two more questions... First can you use the stock accessories such as AC and brackets with this manifold in place and can you tell me more about your cold air induction kit? Did you make it or did you buy it from somewhere?
I used the balancer, alternator, waterpump pulley from the 87 trans am and power steering pump from the 73 .I had a/ c disconnected. The cold air idea i got from 70ls1 jeff, we cut the upper rad support and ran a stock c5 corvette air bridge through it then turned down knto a vortec conical air filter behind one of the grills.

A stock TPI set up is a great mod for that. If you are still running stock iron heads, I would also upgrade to the 113 aluminum L98 heads while you are at it. They can be had cheap and are good OEM heads.
The Corvette TPI ECM is made to be mounted in the engine compartment. There are lots of them in the wrecking yards as they were also used in other GM cars.

While that is true and the same ECM was used in various vehicles with different engines, you need the memcal (chip) from a TPI car. The correct chip is hard to find and expensive when you do. GM doesn't sell them anymore. Aftermarket performance chips won't work either, as they are all piggy-back designs now. That means you have to plug you OEM chip into the performance chip and then plug them both into the ECM.
