A.I.R. System

In general , will your 69 corvette run better with the smog pump in tact ?
Everything else being original. Will not having a smog pump effect the vacuum system , wiper door , headlights etc..

The smog pump pumps air into the exhaust ports . If you take it off you won't notice any difference . Back in the day most people took them off rather than fixing them if there was a problem .

The only thing the air pump does is inject air into the manifolds so unburnt fuel can burn away thus decreasing emissions.

were there any vacuum hoses connected to the pump ?

Not to the pump but to the diverter valve that's attached to the pump. The valve stops/starts the flow of air from the pump in accordance with manifold vacuum.

Would this help the vacuum system run better ?
