I have a 440 Chrysler in a boat that I am replacing the camshaft in. It is opposite rotation and I am getting a cam manufactured and retrofitting to a hydraulic roller system. I am only replacing the cam, due to some scarring on a lobe that I have had re-welded and ground twice.
My question is do I need to use special break in oil for the new roller cam and lifters? I am going to start using Amsoil Z-Rod 20-50 in both this engine and my 72 Corvette, and was about to order the oil.
