Default Need differential setup specs for 80-82

I don't have a service manual for 80 - 82 diffs...

Anybody know the pinion/ring backlash range?

I know... they can be set up just by gear tooth pattern... but I would like the spec as a reference point anyways..

TIA

Tom

It's an 80... Auto (who woulda guessed?) :)

The backlash spec should be the same for all of them though.

Maybe it's the same as the 63-79.... but I don't wanna guess.

It's not my car.

From the archives. . .
I have completed setup of the 3.73:1 gears in my DANA 44
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=193247
The GM manual states "Backlash tolerance is 0.005" to 0.009" and cannot vary more than 0.003" between points checked. The Yukon guide showed 0.006 to 0.010". My actual results based on the four locations that I checked were .007, .006, .006, and .005 .
