Who might have info on what the [stamped] numbers on the tranny case can tell me about this 700R4 transmission? Numbers stamped on left rear of main housing case (vertically) read: " 13 2204 0438 "
I would appreciate any info you might have.
Also, the speedo drive gear (on the output shaft) appears to be green (color). From different tranny info sites, I don't see a green [drive] gear in the list. The driven gear is black (40 teeth). I'm trying to determine if I need to swap a gear for my application. Any ideas on this 'green' gear that shouldn't be in there???
Toward the tail shaft there should be a 2-3? letter code on a tag, think it's on the pass side....about 1x2" pegged to the housing....
letters say like ckw or whatever....that is supposed to relate to some info in the ATSG book as to what it was as a stock/GM build....
Well, that may be the problem. This unit has been rebuilt by a reputable company in Indianapolis and there is no "factory" tag left on it. There were these stamped numbers in the case...but they may have been put there by the rebuilder.
Thanks, Rebelrob, that will help with the identification effort. I also found out that the 'green' speedo drive gear in this tranny used to be blue(changed color with age and hot oil). It is an 18 tooth gear. I will have to change it to a 16 tooth gear to get the right speedo calibration.
