Default My latest bonehead move...

Hi, all,
Well, here it is: I was re-assembleling my Q-Jet, and I noticed that the little clip that acts as a fulcrum for the float stuck up a little from the mating surface of the fuel bowl. Thinking that it might interfere with the air horn making good contact with the fuel bowl, i tweaked it so that it sat a little lower that flush with the top of the fuel bowl. (I'll bet some of you already see where this is going!) Got it all together, put it back on the car, tried to start it, and gasoline started pissing out from everywhere!!! Turns out, if that little clip is not tight between the float bowl and the airhorn, it lifts up, and the needle won't seat. Man, if it wasn't for the hard way, I'd never learn anything.......

Well, I just took the airhorn off and removed it and "un-tweaked" it. Put it back together, but then had to head out to work, we'll see if it works better tommorrow.

you should be fine now....sometimes when we "super tune" something, we have to return it to stock!...it takes a big man to admit a shortcoming, but that's the way we learn and remember the important things....been there, done with the float hinge!.....

Yup, I thought I was pretty slick! I'm not proud of pulling a bonehead move, but I figure I learned something from it, and I'm sharing it so maybe others can learn from my mistake, too.
